Samsung Galaxy S II smartphone, the latest flagship device from the South Korean mobile phone maker, is now available for purchase in the UK via wireless carrier Three.

The new device, unveiled during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, comes with a dual-core application processor inside, and runs under Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread platform.

The wireless carrier has just confirmed Galaxy S II's availability on its airwaves, and also delivered a video presentation so that those interested in the phone would learn some more info on what it has to offer to them.

“Back in February we announced that we’d be ranging the Samsung Galaxy S II, and I can now confirm that it’s now available on Three,” the company's Sylvia Chind notes in a recent blog post.

The new device sports a fast 1.2GHz application processor, complemented by 16GB of internal memory, and a large 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus touchscreen display.

It also includes enhanced connectivity capabilities, such as 3G (HSPA+), Bluetooth and WiFi, along with a 3.5mm headphone jack, built-in GPS receiver, and the whole range of usual sensors.

The Galaxy S II is the ultimate Android phone, it comes with a dual core processor and runs on Gingerbread; version 2.3 of Android. It’s also the slimmest smartphone yet, measuring in at an impressive 8.5mm thick,” Three UK notes.

“It comes with an 8MP auto focus camera with an LED flash as well as a 2MP front facing camera on its 4.3 inch Super AMOLED Plus display which is Samsung’s leading screen technology.

“This means that the screen is really crisp and clear – perfect for those of you who enjoy taking your own pictures or even viewing them on social networking sites such as Facebook.”

The new device was packed with Samsung's Social Hub Premium, which provides users with the possibility to easily access both work documents and their social networking channels on the same page.

Not to mention that it would offer fast access to Google Mobile Services, and to a wide range of applications and games available for download via the Android Market.

"The Samsung Galaxy S II is available from £35 a month or for £40 a month on The One Plan with All-You-Can-Eat Data, 2000 anytime, any network minutes, 5000 texts," the carrier announced.

Pay As You Go customers are also able to purchase the new Samsung Galaxy S II on Three UK's network, for £499.99 upright.

"All in One 15 costs £15 and gives 30-days access to all-you-can-eat data along with 300 any-network minutes and 3,000 texts. Or All in One 25 costs £25 and offers 500 minutes, 3,000 texts and all-you-can-eat data for a 30-day period," Three added.
