South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics is gearing up for the release of a new series of Android-based devices, which should become official later today during a Samsung Unpacked event at IFA 2011, and which already made an appearance into the wild.

To be more precise, the press photos for two devices were just spotted into the wild, namely for the Samsung Galaxy Note and the Galaxy Tab 7.7.

The former is reportedly headed for the market as a really large smartphone, one that might top in size the recently announced Galaxy S II LTE or the US flavors of this flagship smartphone.

Rumor has it that the Samsung Galaxy Note might be released on shelves with a 5-inch or large touchscreen display, and that it would run under the latest flavor of Android Gingerbread.

Previous rumors did suggest that Samsung was getting ready to launch the first smartphone in the world to include a screen larger than 5-inches, and chances are that the Galaxy Note might indeed prove to be it.

No specific info on the new handset has emerged until now, but all should be unveiled in a few hours, so keep an eye on this space for more on the matter.

As for the Galaxy Tab 7.7, it was rumored to be on its way to shelves as the direct successor of the original Galaxy Tab tablet PC from the handset vendor.

It should sport a dual-core application processor, and a screen that would measure 7.7-inches, making it a bit larger than the original device.

Rumor has it that it would be based on the Android 3.2 Honeycomb operating system and that it would also sport Samsung's own UI on top of it.

Previous rumors suggested that the Galaxy Tab 7.7 would be set to arrive on shelves starting with October this year, and all will become official soon.

In the meantime, have a look at the official press photos with these devices, which emerged on the web courtesy of Samsung Hub.
