PC Mobile has just debuted its first Android smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy 550, which is now available on prepaid for $99.

The phone has already seen the light at SaskTel and Virgin Mobile, but it looks like PC Mobile's deal is a bit better.

Customers who purchase the Samsung Galaxy 550 will also received a $10 start up credit, Free call display, call waiting and call forwarding features and more.

In addition, those who want a more 'consistent' data plan can sign up for the company's $45.20 plan that offers 250MB of data.

Announced in June 2010, Samsung Galaxy 550 was launched on the market in August 2010 and is supposed to receive an Android 2.2 Froyo upgrade.

However, PC Mobile retails the Samsung Galaxy 550 with Android 2.1 (Eclair) and TouchWiz v3.0 on top, but has yet to announce if a future upgrade will be deployed for its customers.

When it comes to design, the Galaxy 550 features a sleek, compact and pocket-friendly form factor, which makes it stand out.

Hardware-wise, Samsung Galaxy 550 is just a budget Android smartphone, which is equipped with a low-performance single core processor clocked at 600MHz.

Furthermore, Galaxy 550 comes with a rather small 2.8-inch TFT capacitive touchscreen with 16 million colors and 240 x 320 pixels resolution, as well as accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate.

It also sports a mediocre 2.0-megapixel camera with video recording capabilities (QVGA@15fps) and Stereo FM radio with RDS.

On the inside, the Galaxy 550 packs 170 MB on internal memory (90 MB user available), as well as microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 16GB, 2GB memory card included).

According to the manufacturer, the phone's 1200 mAh Li-Ion battery should provide up to 520 hours of standby time or up to 9 hours of talk time.
