Samsung Galaxy 550, the lesser-featured brother of the hot selling Galaxy S is about to make its debut on Virgin Mobile Canada this weekend on November 20th.

For unknown reasons, the carrier has delayed the launch of the smartphone twice so far, as the Galaxy 550 should have been released on November 12th first and then on November 15th.

According to MobileSyrup, who got their hands on an internal document, Virgin Mobile states that Samsung Galaxy 550 is “Launching November 20, 2010, The Samsung Galaxy 550 is EXCLUSIVE to Virgin Mobile! In fact, it’s so exclusive it has its own NEW plan!”

Apparently, the same website mentioned above discovered the details of the “mysterious” plan:

“This new plan is EXCLUSIVELY for the Samsung Galaxy 550, but it’s only available for a limited time! The $40 “Android Social 40 – 300 minutes plan includes: Available for new and existing Members; 300 Anytime Minutes; 100MB of Data; Unlimited local incoming; Unlimited weekends and evenings starting at 7pm; Choice of unlimited text & picture messaging OR Voicemail 10 & Call Display; Included in the International Text Promo.”

As a side note, the carrier mentions in the same document that the Galaxy 550 will also be available “on theAndroid Social Plan for ALL Androids.”

Samsung Galaxy 550 is powered by a 600MHz processor and runs on Android 2.1 (Eclair) platform.

Other key features of the smartphone include: 2.8-inch TFT capacitive touchscreen with 16 million colors and 240 x 320 pixels resolution, 2.0-megapixel camera with geo-tagging, HSDPA 7.2 Mbps, WiFi 802.11 b/g and DLNA, GPS with A-GPS support, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP, FM Radio, music player, 90 MB of internal memory and microSD card slot (up to 16GB, 1 GB card included).

The smartphone comes bundled with Samsung's proprietary TouchWiz 3.0 UI, as well as Layar Reality Browser, Social Hub, Allshare and Swype.
