14 DAY TRIAL // RadioShack, the giant chain of retail stores is now offering the Samsung Epic 4G for just $179.99 with a new two-year Sprint contract. Sprint customers can save $70, as the carrier is still selling the Android smartphone for $249.99 through its own retail channels.
New subscribers who wish to purchase the Epic 4G can opt for one of the three plans available: Everything Data 450 ($69.99/per month), Everything Data 900 ($89.99/per month) or Simply Everything ($99.99/per month).
Sprint users that already have a plan can choose to renew or upgrade their contract, so that they can take advantage of the Shack's offer.
Samsung Epic 4G is powered by a Samsung 1GHz Cortex A8 Hummingbird processor and runs on Android 2.1 (Eclair) platform.
It boasts a 4.0-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 16M colors (480 x 800 pixels resolution), QWERTY keyboard, TouchWiz 3.0 UI, multi-touch input method, accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate, touch-sensitive controls, proximity sensor for auto turn-off, six-axis motion sensor, light sensor, Swype text input.
The smartphone comes with Sprint's services: Football Live, Navigation Sprint TV, and NASCAR Sprint Cup Mobile. The Qik video application for video chat and live video sharing is also included.
Other key features of the device include: 512MB RAM and 1GB ROM, microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB, 16GB memory card included), 5-megapixel camera with LED flash and 3x digital zoom for HD video (720) recording, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, WiMAX, GPS with A-GPS support, 3.5mm jack port and 4G capability.
The handset is compatible with Samsung's exclusive AllShare service, which enables users to wirelessly share stored music, pictures and HD videos to other DLNA certified home electronics (HDTVs, monitors, digital cameras, printers and more).
Apparently, RadioShack's special offer will be available for at least two days, but it is unclear whether the retailer will to continue to offer other devices at special prices or not.
