Mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless has announced the availability of a new rugged handset on its network, namely the Samsung Convoy 3.

The phone can now be seen on this page on the operator’s website, with a price tag of $99.99 (€75) attached to it on a two-year contract agreement and after a $50 mail-in rebate.

The new device was designed to provide users with the possibility to enjoy communication even when working in harsh conditions outdoors, in construction and landscaping industries,

The mobile phone comes with a ruggedized design that has been certified to meet military standard MIL-STD-810F, and can withstand dust, shock, vibration, humidity, solar radiation, and temperature extremes.

“The Samsung Convoy 3 can handle your outdoor hobbies, harsh job sites, and everyday life. This rugged phone meets military standards for dust, shock and high heat, and it’s perfect for making clear calls in noisy places. Use it like a walkie–talkie to quickly connect with a friend or a group of people,” Verizon notes.

Furthermore, it comes with built-in noise cancellation features to ensure that users enjoy clear conversations even in noisy environments, and also sports Push to Talk (PTT) features, enabling coworkers to easily connect to one another and in a group with the simple push of a button.

“PTT technology helps businesses improve the way they communicate in their everyday operations. Supervisors in the office can quickly get in contact with employees across the country, and car service managers can dispatch a driver where needed,” Verizon notes.

The handset sports a flip design with a 2.4-inch screen, a QSC6185 processor, 256MB of RAM, 512MB of internal memory, and a microSD memory card slot for expansion purposes.

Furthermore, Samsung Convoy 3 features a 3.2-megapixel photo snapper with flash, while being powered by a 1300 mAh battery that can deliver up to 330 minutes of talk time, or up to 450 hours of standby time.
