Mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless might soon start delivering the Windows Phone 8 GDR2 software update to the owners of HTC 8X smartphones on its network, and the company has already published a support document to detail the changes included in the new firmware.

No specific info on when the new OS release might start arriving on the Windows Phone 8X by HTC smartphone at Big Red has been provided as of now, but WPCentral notes that it should not be too long before that happens.

The software update has already been made available for download for the owners of the HTC 8X smartphone on the networks of AT&T and T-Mobile, and it was only a matter of time before Verizon too decided to follow suit.

The firmware release will arrive on devices as build number 3030.0.34201.605, while featuring baseband version 0.17.50.0603, the aforementioned document unveils.

All the features and enhancements that Windows Phone 8 GDR2 was said to include will be packed inside the new software for Verizon’s users.

The release notes (PDF link) for the update shows the following:

- Make assisted calls more easily while roaming in select international destinations - Select, download and pin music with the Xbox Music Experience - Access song and album information more accurately with the Xbox Music Experience - Enjoy better web browsing with improved HTML 5 compatibility in Internet Explorer - Connect with greater stability when using Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) apps like Lync and Skype - FM Radio - The latest software allows you to select, listen to and save your favorite radio stations (requires headset as antenna) - Group Text - Note: This feature is off by default, but users can configure via the Messaging application by selecting Settings, Group Text, and changing the toggle to On - IMAP for email, CardDAV for contacts and CalDAV for calendar when setting up a Gmail account
