Intera front-end modules and Helios EDGE radios will be used by Samsung

Skyworks Solutions Inc. announced yesterday that Samsung will be using its highly appreciated Intera front-end modules (FEMs) and its Helios II-Plus EDGE radios for the Samsung Ultra Series cell phones, including the SGH-U700 and SGH-U600 models. The Ultra Edition phones from Samsung are among the slimmest and most powerful cell phones to date, featuring the latest technology and multimedia functionality. They are designed to please and to offer a great user experience and come with jewel inspired casing, high speed internet connectivity, 3 mega pixel photo camera and far-reaching audio and multimedia capabilities.

Brian M. Daly, vice president of marketing at Skyworks, declared: "Skyworks is pleased to be supporting Samsung with solutions that are pushing the limits on performance and integration. We are delighted that our innovative designs are enabling Samsung and others to deliver high-performance, feature-rich phones with state-of-the-art design for today's consumers."

The SKY77519 front-end module from Skyworks that Samsung incorporates is the smallest solution available on today's mobile market for open-polar EDGE architectures. The SKY77519 FEM allows OEMs to benefit from an optimized power usage solution and reach higher performances. These maximum performances can lead to increased battery capacity (by 10 percent), increased power savings (by 30 percent) and increased talk times (by 10 percent).

Compared to the earlier Helios designs from Skyworks, the Helios II-Plus radios minimize the RF board space by 25 percent, fundamentally simplify factory calibration and can interface with basically any analog baseband.
