UK mobile device retailer Expansys has began taking orders for the ?most wanted" device of the recent CeBIT - Samsung's Q1 ultra-mobile PC.

Regardless of the fact that Microsoft may have suggested at the launch of its UMPC devices at CeBIT that customers should be expected to pay around $500 for the device, it seems that manufacturers and retailers think different. All in all, Expansys just announced that it will be charging customers looking to acquire Samsung's new Q1 Ultra Mobile PC for almost ?800, that's about $1,390 or ?1,148.

The device measures 22.8 x 14 x 2.7 cm, features a 7 inch (800 x 480 pixels resolution) LCD display and runs on a 900MHz ultra-low voltage Celeron M processor and an Intel 915GMS chipset, with 512MB of 400MHz DDR 2 SDRAM and a 40GB hard drive.

In addition, it features an integrated 802.11b/g Wi-Fi and 10/100Mbps Ethernet networking, Bluetooth 2.0 and two USB 2.0 ports. Samsung's Q1 includes SRS' TruSurround sound 3D audio system, operating through the device's twin speakers and Windows Media Player 10. Customers will be happy to know that the device has also a built-in GPS receiver and navigation software.

According to Samsung, Q1 will start shipping around 1st of June.
