Samsung has unveiled a new HSPDA cellphone that will be available on the Korean KTF mobile carrier. The SPH-W2500 handset is an updated version of the SPH-W2100, a handset which was KTF's first ever HSPDA-enabled phone.

All the info I got about this phone comes from Korean websites and, besides some very few technical details that will appear on its spec sheet, the specifications related to the W2500 are as scarce as they can be.

That is not a surprise if you think about this phone being launched as the Koreans usually do: with as less details as possible and leaving the pleasure of discovering the intricacies of the device after they buy it.

The phone features GSM 1900 MHz, WCDMA 850/1900 MHz radios, 3G high speed HSPDA data transfer technology that can go up to 1.8 Mbps, an MP3 player, a VGA camera for video calls, a microSD memory expansion card slot and, if it will be anything like its older brother the W2100, it will also feature a TFT display, USB connectivity and, probably, a S-DMB tuner doubled by a TV-out feature.

This handset is 13.8 mm thick and, having a limited amount of changes, it has almost the same design as its sibling. The phone will be available in Korea for the KTF customers, in silver and black glossy suits, for a price yet unknown.

Its appearance on the FCC website on February 26 hints at a possible appearance on the US mobile market. At the moment, there is no other information to sustain this theory but as soon as I'll find anything related to this subject you will be the first to know.
