Unveiled during the 3GSM World Congress

Forget the branded cellphones Motorola, LG and others like them have launched on the market because the Chinese are coming to release their own devices and they don't care about the fancy naming stuff. One such a handset is ZTE's F890, world's first cellphone to feature both HSPDA and DVB-H mobile TV.

Besides this feature which makes it a unique piece of hardware, the F890 also brags about its minimal looks and about its RAZR-like laser etched keypad. In fact, it doesn't say anything about bragging or about it having such a keypad but if you look in the picture, you'll see it for yourself.

And, believe me, that is not something to brag about because everybody already got its fair share of laser-etched everything during 2006.

Why bring it back? Probably just for the fun of it and because one of their designing team members thought the F890 would not look cool enough without it.

Although not having the best looking design on the mobile market, this handset, launched during the 3GSM expo in Barcelona, will suddenly seem to be your dream come true if you take a look over its spec sheet: 3.6 Mbps HSPDA download speeds, WCDMA 2100/850 MHz, GSM/EDGE/GPRS 900/1800/1900 MHz, a main 2 inch 262k colors LCD display working at a resolution of 172x220 pixels, a CSTN sub-display, a rotating digital camera for video calls, video streaming, Java, Email, DRM OMA 1.0, FOTA, Bluetooth 1.2 and USB 2.0 connectivity, microSD memory expansion card slot and a multimedia player with support for MP3, AAC+, MPEG4, H.263 and H.264 files.

According to He Shiyou, SVP of ZTE and the general manager of the Handset Division, ?the launch of ZTE's F890 indicates that its mobile enterprise products are matching overseas giants like Nokia and Motorola in technology, standing out among all mobile terminals of Chinese participants?.
