Leading mobile software developer SPB Software has just announced the availability of a new application for handsets running under Google's Android operating system, namely SPB Wireless Monitor.

The new software was designed to offer a complete tool to Android users interested in learning more on data traffic on various types of connections, while also enabling them to calculate network usage costs based on current data plans.

According to the software designer, the new application was meant to offer users a tighter control of their spendings on mobile Internet, especially to those who travel abroad.

“By installing SPB Wireless Monitor to your mobile device, you will be able to calculate how much money you spend on the Internet and determine which applications are consuming the most of your money,” the company notes.

SPB Wireless Monitor should enable users not only control mobile data spendings, but also to avoid unwanted charges.

The application would measure data traffic, calculate network charges, send warnings in case the data usage becomes costly, and also offers reports on the data traffic generated by various applications. The software can be used on various connection types, (CDMA, GPRS, 3G, and Wi-Fi).

Some of the main features of the new Android tool include:

- Per application traffic reports or time-based reports; - Daily, monthly, yearly or custom period cost reports; - The reports can be viewed on the screen, shared or exported as CSV files; - CDMA, GPRS, 3G, and Wi-Fi connection supported; - Peak and off-peak tariffs support with 300+ different service plans from various countries; - Data usage alarm; - Home screen widget.

The new application is already available for download via the Android Market. It can be used on devices running under Android 2.1 or higher, and features a price tag of 9.95 USD.

“The more applications are downloaded the harder it is to track the data traffic and to control expenses on mobile Internet,” Sebastian-Justus Schmidt, SPB Software’s CEO, commented.

“It can lead to the reduction of usage of any applications that require Internet connection and, as a – the limitation of apps choice for end users and money losses for mobile operators. SPB has created the solution that provides daily, monthly, yearly or custom period cost reports according to the pre-defined tariff rates and helps to avoid the unrestrained money spending.”
