Sony is ready for a new change

I don't really know if this should be considered good or bad news, but Sony announced that it is discontinuing the production of the SIXAXIS controller since the DualShock 3 is now being shipped to retailers across North America. Also, the company added one more page to its official PlayStation site where it listed the titles that can use the rumble feature.

A Sony representative confirmed to MTV that the SIXAXIS will no longer be offered after it's sold through at retail (likely by the summer timeframe). This means that the PS3 owners who don't really care about a rumble feature might be a bit happier, since the discontinued controller will most likely record a price drop pretty soon.

On the other hand, the DualShock 3 controller that was supposed to be released on the 15th of April will be available starting next week - as soon as the retailers receive them. The suggested retail price of the DualShock is $55 and the titles compatible with it will have an icon on the box. Also, most of the games will require a patch in order to fully enjoy the powers of the new controller released by Sony - and the patch should be automatically downloaded if you are online).

As expected, most of the DualShock 3 compatible games are, at the moment, the ones published by SCEA but more titles are expected to be released soon. Here is the list, but don't forget to check Sony's official page for newly added titles:

Formula One Championship Edition* (PS3) MotorStorm* (PS3) PAIN (PSN) High Velocity Bowling (PSN) MLB 08: The Show (PS3) Uncharted: Drake's Fortune (PS3) Resistance: Fall of Man* (PS3) Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction (PS3) Go! Sports Ski* (PSN) Folklore* (PS3) Heavenly Sword* (PS3) Warhawk* (PSN / PS3) Super Stardust HD* (PSN) Snakeball (PSN) Toy Home (PSN) PSOne Emulation (PSN) Piyotama (PSN) PixelJunk Monsters (PSN) Blast Factor* (PSN) Condemned 2: Bloodshot (PS3) Lost: Via Domus (PS3) Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 2* (PS3) Burnout Paradise (PS3) Dynasty Warriors 6 (PS3) Devil May Cry 4 (PS3) Dragon Ball Z Burst Limit (PS3) Turok (PS3)
