A promising MMO rises from the dust

The free MMO universe keeps expanding and every now and then a project arises, promising to change the world. The same thing happens with Frogster Interactive's MMORPG title, Runes of Magic - a game that looks great and promises to be even greater. We just have to see it released as fast as possible, installed on our PCs and start playing it so we can judge for ourselves.

Runes of Magic will be released with the promise that "this is how future free2play MMOs look like!" and they do have a few aces up their sleeves. First of all, and probably the most important thing for the release of the game, is the number of quests: we'll get no less than 600 hundred of them and, unless they are absolutely childish or way too repetitive, the number is really high. The rest is the common deal: six main classes and secondary ones, unique character skills, mounting, guild systems and PvP battles.

But, unlike what you might be expecting from it (you know... it is, in theory at least, a free game), Runes of Magic looks incredibly well. It is an absolute eye candy, even though some might consider it to resemble World of Warcraft too much.

In the game, players have access to the dual class system which allows them to freely combine their main and secondary classes in order to freely build a character the way they want (of course, this sounds great in theory, but we know that "freely" has a lot of limitations, usually). In addition, players have access to a dynamic item and rune system, as well as three gathering and eight crafting professions. The game's dangerous dungeons filled with monsters, quick raids and the extensive PvP system promise to constantly challenge PC heroes.

The game is scheduled to be released this winter, by the end of 2008. You can visit the official website for more details about the MMORPG.
