The rumors about the Wii 2, a console which has not yet been confirmed as being in development by Nintendo, have grown even bolder, with a French site that talked about the new controller including a touchscreen now claims that the well-known developer Rockstar has been confirmed as creating games for the new platform.

01net is taken as trusted source because of the fact that it offered information on the Next Generation Portable from Sony, which everyone else is calling the PlayStation Portable 2, before the company talked about it in an official manner.

The 01net story does not offer any clear information on what kind of game Rockstar might be creating for the rumored Nintendo Wii 2, but it's very possible that the company is working with Nintendo to see what hardware the new home gaming console will have so that it can include it in the supported line up for the also rumored Grand Theft Auto V.

Rockstar and Take Two, the two companies that are in charge of the franchise, have not talked officially about the new game, but a number of job ads and rumors suggest that it is being worked on.

An announcement on GTA V might arrive at the E3 trade show, which takes place in early June, and a number of reports are also saying that Nintendo will officially talk about the follow up to the Wii at its own press conference.

01net calls the new hardware Project Cafe, which is a very French name for a console created by a Japanese company.

Rockstar has traditionally steered clear of Nintendo made platform for its games, with the latest big release, GTA: Chinatown Wars getting more positive reviews for ports on the PlayStation Portable and on smartphones.

A deal with Rockstar would allow Nintendo to defend against criticisms that it does not have enough hardcore titles for its consoles.
