Coming with more content

It seems that Sony is preparing to launch a new Collector's Edition for Gran Turismo 5, coming with more goodies for those who love racing and the simulation titles offered by Polyphony Digital. The announcement is not official yet but the signs are definitely there.

Talking to IndianVideoGamer, Atindriya Bose, who is the leader of the Indian division for the Sony PlayStation brand, said that “For Gran Turismo 5, there are two collector’s editions,” before explaining in further detail that “One is the game plus some added content and collectibles, while the other is in a really big package with a lot of paraphernalia that goes beyond the game. It’s all car-related, but I’m unaware of the exact contents.”

His statements seem to be corroborated with news coming out of the French Amazon site, which listed a so-called “Edition Ultime” for Gran Turismo 5 for 190 Euro, which is quite a lot for something related to a video game. The site has not listed what gamers might be receiving as part of the pricey package but scale replicas of the best known cars attached to it would not be a bad bet.

The normal Collector's Edition for Gran Turismo 5 has a branded key chain, a branded die cast Nissan GT-R Spec V, a certificate confirming that the contents are authentic and five exclusive cars, which can be downloaded by using a code.

Sony is selling it for 99.99 dollars and has made no official announcement about another exclusive version of its racing simulation title. Interestingly, Gran Turismo 5 has been confirmed as coming to the North American market on November 2, after a series of long delays, but no date has been unveiled for Europe, which means the listing on the French Amazon site might be a bit premature.
