Audio discovery

Industrious PC gamers have sifted through all the sound files of BioWare’s role playing action hybrid Mass Effect 2 and found a set of clips suggesting that Liara T'soni, one of the most interesting characters in the first game in the series and a possible love interest for the main character, might be coming back in a series of missions linked to the mysterious Shadow Broker.

All of the discovered audio files have DLC in their title, which means BioWare might be close to actually putting out a new content package featuring Liara as a companion for Shepard. Norm_intro event suggests that some of the audio files are set to take place somewhere on the Normandy, rather than on Illium, where the Mass Effect character is now based.

History seems to be repeating itself when it comes to Mass Effect 3 characters and DLC. BioWare recently put out a piece of content called Kasumi's Stolen Memory, which was known to be coming because PC gamers discovered the audio files linked to it.

Liara T'soni is a much more important character in the Mass Effect universe than Kasumi, so players can expect something more than recruitment and then single loyalty missions. The files also heavily point to a battle with the Shadow Broker, the entity that specializes in selling information to all interested and paying parties in the universe. Given the impact of his possible death, it seems more likely that BioWare will deliver a more complex package, similar to what The Awakening has been for Dragon Age: Origins. Liara also talks about the Collector's in the past tense, which means the planned content will take place after the climactic last battle of Mass Effect 2.

At the moment, it's all speculation but BioWare has a good track record to actually reacting and commenting on this kind of discoveries.

Here are the clips linked together with some possible responses coming from Commander Shepard:
