A slew of e-mail received by those who have pre ordered the Collector's Edition of the Cataclysm expansion for World of Warcraft hint that the new content for the most popular subscription based MMO in the world of gaming will be released at some point between January 4 and 18 of 2011.

One of the e-mail for Collector's Edition buyers, which have been shared by readers of the Kotaku gaming blog, reads:

“Hello from Amazon.com.

We now have delivery date(s) for the order you placed on August 17 2010 (Order# xxx-xxxxxxx-xxxxxxx):

'World of Warcraft: Cataclysm Collector’s Edition'

Estimated arrival date: January 05 2011”

The date never appears on the Amazon web site but another retailer, Target, lists it for December 31, 2010.

Other information that fans have gleaned from the Blizzard schedules for World of Warcraft events disprove the Amazon date and suggest that Cataclysm might be launched in early December.

Arena Battles are set to get Season Nine on December 14 and Blizzard has apparently stated that the debut of the new season will happen seven days after the launch of Cataclysm.

Blizzard, the creator of World of Warcraft, is widely expected to announce the launch date for Cataclysm and more features for the expansion at its BlizzCon event, which takes place in Anaheim, California on October 22 and 23.

The big changes for Cataclysm will be the introduction of two new races, the Worgen and the Goblins, allowing players to experience new quests and new abilities, along with a rise in the level cap from 80 to 85.

World of Warcraft fans will also get more raid instances, new dungeons and new battlegrounds.

Gamers will be able to use a new secondary skill, Archaeology, and will also get access to a new type of Glyph.

World of Warcraft continues to be the most popular subscription MMO at the moment but Blizzard needs to constantly deliver new content to the game in order to keep fans interested.
