New and good-looking Pocket PC

The RoverPC name is not quite known on the global Pocket PC market, mainly because the devices coming out under this brand are produced and commercialized only in Russia. The newest handset from the Rover PC family is P7, a device coming with Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional on board and an overall look that can make even the renowned Pocket PC manufacturers look at it with a bit of envy.

Besides the cool design (especially in the keypad area) and the latest Windows Mobile OS, RoverPC P7 also brings pretty nice features. The handset has a 2.8 inch touchscreen display with a QVGA resolution (240 x 320 pixels), Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR, MP3 player, headset jack (a 3.5mm one, most probably), a 2 Megapixel camera with video recording, a Marvel PXA270 processor at 416 MHz, 64MB of RAM, 128MB of ROM, miniUSB and microSD card support for several extra GBs. In terms of connectivity, the P7 supports tri-band GSM frequencies (900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz) and comes with GPRS and EDGE, but no 3G capabilities.

Although the lack of 3G could be seen as a serious downside, the new P7 Pocket PC compensates with its small size: 112 x 61 x 13.8 millimeters, at a weight of only 95 grams.

RoverPC P7 is said to be available starting June, for a retail price of 8990 RUB, the equivalent of 250 Euros or $380. This is quite a good price, considering the features of the Pocket PC, and it definitely makes the P7 one of the most affordable Windows Mobile 6.1 devices on the market.

While the new RoverPC P7 will surely be commercialized across Russia, we can't say yet if it is ever going to cross the borders of the largest country in the world and head towards other markets. If it does, we'll make sure to let you know.
