Working on Windows Mobile 6.0

A new Communicator handset was just spotted these days, this time coming from Russia and named RoverPC C6. Created by RoverPC, the device is a GSM phone that has a simple but nice look, reminding me of HTC's way of designing handsets. RoverPC C6 doesn't have a full keypad, so it can be operated either with the stylus or with the navigation keys.

The new C6 smartphone works on Windows Mobile 6.0, is powered by a Samsung 2442B 300 Mhz processor and has a 1020 mAh battery. It measures 104.8 X 53 X 15.1 millimeters, weighs only 79 grams and has a 2.4 inch TFT LCD touchscreen display with a 240 X 320 pixel resolution. A decent 2.0 Megapixel camera is featured, as well as mini USB, GPRS, Bluetooth and microSD card support.

Being a Windows Mobile device, the C6 smartphone comes with Microsoft Office Word Mobile, Microsoft Office Excel Mobile, Microsoft Office Outlook Mobile, Microsoft Office PowerPoint Mobile, Internet Explorer and Live messenger. So it looks like it's a device targeted towards business users.

RoverPC C6 is priced at 7,990 Russian rubles, the equivalent of about 325 US Dollars, but we don't know if the handset will be available for other markets except the Russian one.

RoverPC is a subdivision of Rover Computers, a company that produces various electronic devices, from photo cameras to laptops. Surfing the RoverPC website (in Russian language), I found that they created a wide range of mobile phones until now. Most of them are touch-screen models that run Windows Mobile OS, but there are also standard mobile phones, working on Symbian. Since the manufacturer seems to have some experience in mobile phones, I guess we will hear again about its products. Maybe with some releases in Western Europe, Asia or North America.
