Players will be able to make their own maps

Gaming news site Kotaku found out that a new Counter Strike-like first person shooter will be developed. This supposedly comes as a result of a Bethesda and Zombie Studios partnership.

The game will be Rogue Warrior, and will be developed exclusively for the Xbox 360. Maybe you are fed up with fighting against terrorists but what seems interesting is that Rogue Warrior will be powered by the Unreal Engine 3. It will also have four-player Live co-op and online death matches with up to 24 players.

Looks like Bethesda and Zombie are developing a new multiplayer system, which will allow games to build their own maps using sections of maps already present in the game. Each level of the game will be made up of three sections, one team picks a section, the other team another section and the middle section is chosen randomly by the console from over 200 combinations.

Teams that go against each other in battle will not know what the other team has chosen until the game starts. Maybe this option is conceived to prevent players from getting bored with the maps, as they did with the Counter Strike maps.

Googleing "Rogue Warrior", I could only get some information about a book. Maybe the game is based on the book. Richard Marcinko, the author of the book tells the story of two U.S. Navy counter-terrorist units, SEAL Team SIX and Red Cell. This story sounds similar to the one in Rogue Warrior. I shall dig up for some more information and let you know if there's any connection between the book and the game.
