Today, Canadian wireless carrier Rogers has added a new mobile phone to its offering, namely the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 mini. The new Android-based device is meant to complete the Xperia handset family at the carrier, offering users the possibility to try out the smallest Android smartphone in the world. The handset is now available for purchase in Canada exclusively from Rogers.

“The Xperia X10 mini is defining a whole new category of smartphones. It has innovative smartphone technology in a compact package that provides an attractive and feature-rich alternative to the larger smartphones available,” said Andrea Gaal, General Manager, Sony Ericsson Canada. “The handset is about the height and width of a credit card, while still offering the best-in-class performance consumers have come to expect from smartphones. We are excited to offer a compact smartphone that enables users to experience the best in communication, entertainment and social media networking.”

Among the main features of the new mobile phone, we can count a four corner touch, which enables users to customize the screen's four corners for various functions or applications; Sony Ericsson's Timescape application, meant to organize user's communications regardless the source (including Facebook and Twitter updates, calls or SMS messages; Quick Facebook and Quick YouTube applications to easily share photos or videos taken with the handset's 5MP camera; FM radio, music player and other multimedia features; or support for Gmail, Google Maps with Street view, Google Search Widget, Google Talk, or the Android Market for app downloads.

“Our customers are looking for new, efficient ways to stay connected with their friends and families. And with the launch of the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 mini, we're bringing our customers just what they are looking for. We're excited to welcome this, the smallest Android smartphone in the world, to Rogers' Social View series of devices,” says Raj Doshi, VP, Mobile Product Management, Rogers Communications, Inc. “As the first in Canada to launch Android products, we're committed to continuing to evolve our Android offerings to enhance the experience for our customers.”
