The developer of the upcoming Batman: Arkham City has just revealed a few more details about the fact that Robin, the famous sidekick of the comic book character, will be playable to some extent.

Batman: Arkham City is set to improve on the already impressive characteristics of its predecessor, Arkham Asylum, and the introduction of new playable characters, like Catwoman or Robin, are certainly worth noting for every comic book fan.

We've already heard how Catwoman will have her own spinoff story inside the main campaign of the upcoming title, and now, Rocksteady has released a few more details about Robin, including his design and how he was altered in order to reflect a grittier take on the popular sidekick.

According to character artist Kan Muftic, Robin won't resemble the famous Boy Wonder we know from comic book, as he revealed that, "We wanted to create a Robin that players would identify as a contemporary character and move away from the traditional 'Boy Wonder' image that most people know."

"Our vision of Robin is the one of a troubled young individual that is calm and introverted at times but very dangerous and aggressive if provoked. The shaved head is inspired by cage fighters, because we thought that Robin might be doing that in his spare time to keep him on his toes. Still, we kept all the classic trademarks of Robin's appearance, such as the red and yellow colors of his outfit, the cape and the mask."

Robin in Batman: Arkham City won't play a major role in its story, as he is currently available as a pre-order bonus for those who get the game at Best Buy, and is playable only during the special Challenge rooms, which serve as side missions for those that want more time with the title after completing the story.

Expect even more details in the near future, ahead of Batman: Arkham City's release, on October 18, for the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, but, until then, you can check out the full color artwork above.
