14 DAY TRIAL // He’s one of the most recognizable actors at the moment, because he’s starring in the biggest movie phenomenon of our times, “The Twilight Saga,” as brooding and terribly good looking vampire Edward Cullen. Because of all this, British actor Robert Pattinson is also often targeted in parodies and spoofs – and Jimmy Fallon’s series of sketches “Robert Is Bothered” must be one of the most popular.
The sketch sees Fallon in plenty of makeup and what looks like clothes similar to what Edward wore in the first “Twilight” film. He’s invariably sitting in his tree, in which he seeks refuge whenever something or someone bothers him. Believe it or not, but Robert is actually bothered quite a lot: by Valentine’s Day and the entire month of February, by Apple’s recently released iPad and, on rare occasions, even by Robert Pattinson himself – the real deal, this time.
The latest sketch sees Robert Pattinson bothered by the biggest sports events of the moment, the World Cup. As BSC Review also notes, it was rather expected for Fallon to eventually pick it for a sketch, but that doesn’t make it any less funny. Line by line, the fake Rob goes on to argument that he should not be the only one bothered by the World Cup and everything that it entails: media frenzy, rules of the game and even the much-dreaded vuvuzelas. Still, argue as he might, even his girlfriend (“played” by the usual blow-up doll) carries a torch for David Beckham – even if he’s not playing in the World Cup.
“He’s charming. He’s witty. He’s Jimmy Fallon and he’s dressed like Rob Pattinson and hanging out in a tree. We’re talking about the latest installment of Fallon’s funny recurring Late Night skit, ‘Bothered with Robert Pattinson.’ You have to see this one. Now ‘Rob’ is bothered by World Cup. I suppose it was only a matter of time. As Fallon introduces his skit, pretending the real Rob has posted the video in question at his website robertisbothered.com, he recognized that R-Patz is one ‘smooth operator’,” BSC Review says.
“In the video itself Fallon’s dark haired version of Pattinson claims World Cup is rubbish because the whole world isn’t actually involved. He starts to name countries that aren’t participating, saying at one point, “What has Latvia done wrong?’ He is so bothered this time around that even before the video is over he asks viewers to ‘get lost’ and then scowls deeply. Perhaps poking fun at Pattinson’s growling fight scenes from the first Twilight film, Fallon also winds up hissing cat-like at a vuvuzela (the infamous plastic South African blowing horn),” the same e-zine also notes.
