Singer Robbie Williams and wife Ayda Field are expecting their first child. Robbie himself broke the happy news to his fans, in a lovely post on his official web page.

The two were married in August 2010 after dating for about 3 years. They have always been a very private, low-key couple, dividing their time between the US and the UK.

This could explain why rumors of the pregnancy never made it into the press.

“Me and Ayda are going to be mummy and daddy this year,” Robbie writes on his page.

He also jokes about being intimate with his wife, whom he often refers to as the love of his life, and finding out that “it works!,” people do become pregnant after such practice.

“Hey friendlies, I've been keeping a secret from you all... Me and Ayda are going to be mummy and daddy this year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!,” the star gushes.

“We've seen scans and cried... Looked at babies in commercials and teared up... The nursery is already planned...,” he goes on to say, bringing his fans up to speed about the changes in his family.

After a rather troubled youth, Robbie has finally found peace and the love he would always sing about never finding.

“Basically I'm in love with a little person growing in mummy's belly... and can't wait to be a daddy. Crying now. Much love much joy, Roberto, Mum and Little Bump,” he concludes his message by saying.

He doesn't say whether they'll be having a boy or a girl, but chances are he will do that once they're ready.

Last summer, Robbie had started work on a brand new solo album and he would keep fans up to speed on the same website he now broke the news of the pregnancy.

At the time, he said this was his “most consistent” studio material to date.
