Those who found the 2011 edition of the Golden Globes offensive because of the jokes host Ricky Gervais made probably have reason to worry about 2012: the British comedian will do next year’s show too, but only if Charlie Sheen will co-host.

In light of the Charlie Sheen trainwreck rolling in front of a stunned audience via countless media interviews, Gervais has taken to his blog to say he’s changed his mind about not returning as a Globes host for next year.

Of course, he’s only saying this as a joke, because organizers don’t want him there again, so him changing his mind doesn’t really weigh in the balance.

Then again, in the constant rush for ratings, everything is possible.

Ricky does have one condition, though: he wants Sheen up on that stage with him. He doesn’t even have to learn lines or do the actual job of a host, he just has to pay attention and then put in his 2 cents.

“OK. I will host The Golden Globes again, AND the Emmys, AND The Oscars if I can do it with Charlie Sheen. I mean it,” Gervais writes on his blog, as per a CNN blog.

As for how the hosting duties would be divided, Ricky has thought that one out as well.

“I’d write some gags like always, intro the presenters, then after each acceptance speech I’d just chat to Charlie, who would just be sitting in an arm chair smoking, about what he thought of the result. He’d just say what’s on his incredible mind. It would be [expletive]-ing amazing,” he writes.

With such an extraordinary plan, Gervais is eager to have word of it reach Sheen.

“I’d call his agent but he hasn’t got one. Do you have his dealer’s number? Oh [expletive], he’s clean isn’t he?” Gervais writes.

“If you bump into him in the street or when he’s being dragged around the interview circuit being exploited in the name of ‘news’ tell him he’s got a new job,” the comedian adds.

No word yet from Charlie Sheen – but, given his recent statements, he’d probably not say no to this offer.
