Square Enix has just made a great announcement for all you Final Fantasy fans. The renowned developer says it will ship both Final Fantasy (one) and Final Fantasy II as separate titles across PAL territories in early 2008, for the PlayStation Portable. Newcomers eager to take on the series just now are finally getting their chance to experience the classic gameplay, storylines and unique characters that started the RPG "phenomenon."

Fans of the series however, don't love the first installments of the series. Everyone started to enjoy playing Final Fantasy games with the release of the seventh installment. That's why these new editions of FF and FFII feature redrawn graphics and character art, exclusive new dungeons, full 16:9 widescreen visuals and an updated camera view. No 3D though, but hey who wants them that revamped, right?

John Yamamoto, president and chief executive officer of Square Enix Ltd. comments, "FINAL FANTASY and FINAL FANTASY II are the foundations of the Square Enix success story. They are the first two steps in the long and distinguished history of the FINAL FANTASY franchise. With these beautiful new versions, fans can now experience the origins of FINAL FANTASY wherever they go."

Here's a little something on the first Final Fantasy game released: The tale begins when four young warriors, each possessing a crystal, are summoned to restore the world's harmonious elemental balance. During their voyage, they discover a nefarious entity has created turmoil in the structure of time in order to take control of the world, causing the heroes to travel to places they never imagined possible.

Basic features look a little something like this: ■ The ultimate edition of the game that gave birth to a phenomenon. ■ Redrawn graphics and enhanced sound capitalise on the PSP's impressive audiovisual capabilities. ■ Featuring an all-new dungeon, the Labyrinth of Time. ■ Art Gallery mode allows you to view the stunning artwork of leading illustrator Yoshitaka Amano.

As for FFII, the tweaked-up features speak for themselves: ■ Redrawn graphics and enhanced sound capitalise on the PSP's impressive audiovisual capabilities. ■ Featuring two all-new dungeons: Arcane Labyrinth and Arcane Sanctuary. ■ Find and use new equipment, battle new enemies and defeat a new boss, all exclusive to the PSP version. ■ Art Gallery mode allows you to view the stunning artwork of leading illustrator Yoshitaka Amano.

So, what RPG fans and Final Fantasy fanatics should remember is that early next year, they'll be getting revamped versions of very first two games that started a "phenomenon" - Final Fantasy, as different products. This goes for PSP owners that live in PAL territories.
