The Spike TV Video Game Awards have just passed, and we're left with lots of details about many new games, including Resistance 3, the next installment in Insomniac Games' first person shooter franchise.

The first gameplay trailer aired this weekend at the VGAs, and showed just how the new main protagonist, Joe Capelli, would take on the Chimera monsters in a war-ravaged USA during the 1950s.

This new trailer, with actual gameplay and in-game footage, shows a much darker tone, similar to the original Resistance, and in contrast to the second game that appeared back in 2008.

There are free-camera movements, but as well as direct gameplay, showing the action through Capelli's perspective.

Capelli, as revealed at the end of last week, will make use of upgraded weapons, as well as all-new ones in order to fight the Chimera monsters, which have also seen new and powerful mutations, as opposed to the ones in the first two games.

Insomniac, right after the trailer aired, started answering a lot of questions about the game, and revealed that, as of right now, the title is playable from start to finish, but a lot of polishing and tweaking is needed to make it perfect.

As revealed last week, the multiplayer mode will be overhauled, and deliver a much more focused experience that will draw in players already used to modes in games like Call of Duty or Killzone.

Last but not least, support for stereoscopic 3D or motion control, through the PlayStation Move, is still in debate over at Insomniac, but players might be able to enjoy these new technologies when the game is released.

Speaking of release dates, the trailer below also contains the much-awaited date when Resistance 3 is arriving in stores, which is September 6, exclusively on the PlayStation 3.
