14 DAY TRIAL // The recently announced Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City has just received a few more details, as well as a batch of screenshots and even a gameplay video, showcasing parts of the game's action.
Capcom announced a few weeks ago that it is working together with Canadian developer Slant Six Games on a new Resident Evil game which will switch up the classic gameplay tropes of the survival horror franchise.
The new title, Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City, departs from the traditional third person, over the shoulder shooter mechanics and adopts a more squad-based type of gameplay, as seen in the developer's previous title, SOCOM Confrontation.
The game will see players step into the combat boots of a squad of Umbrella Security Services soldiers, which are tasked with going into Raccoon City during the events from Resident Evil 2 and 3.
There, soldiers will have to fight against the remaining zombies, US Spec Ops soldiers that are trying to uncover the truth about Umbrella, as well as Bio-Organic Weapons, who will act as bosses.
In order to really hype up the new game, Capcom has now released a brand new video, which introduces the team of USS soldiers as well as some of their adventures in Raccoon City.
Fans of the series will no doubt recognize Resident Evil 2 protagonist Leon Kennedy, which, in the story of Operation Raccoon City, will be a target of the USS squad.
Capcom emphasized that Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City will see its story take place outside the established cannon of the franchise, so players can do anything they want and not feel bad about messing up the continuity of other titles.
A series of screenshots were also revealed, most of them taken straight from the video, but they'll certainly please fans of the series.
Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City will arrive this winter for the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
