Indian carrier Reliance has just announced the launch of the first carrier-branded Android tablet, the Reliance 3G Tab.

The tablet is now available for purchase at Reliance World and Reliance Mobile stores in Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata for Rs. 12,999 (about $287).

Reliance also stated that another 13 telecom circles with Reliance 3G services will be receiving the tablet in the next few days.

Customers who want to purchase the newly announced carrier-branded tablet should know that the carrier offers two Reliance Super Value combo plans and also monthly 3G value plans.

There are 3 monthly data plans of 1GB, 2GB and 5GB which would cost Rs. 17,500, 18,500 and 20,000 respectively, when purchased along with the Android tablet.

The Reliance 3G Tab is manufactured by the Chinese company ZTE, but it will be retailed under the carrier's brand.

The tablet comes with a 7-inch capacitive touchscreen display and runs Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread platform, which might receive an upgrade to Honeycomb as soon as the search giant makes it available in the market.

Furthermore, the tablet packs 512 MB of RAM, microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB, 4GB memory card included) and weighs only 389g (battery included).

The tablet's 2-megapixel main camera placed on the back of the device provides users with the option to capture videos, while the secondary VGA front facing camera allows users to make video calls.

Reliance 3G Tab also features Mobile TV, voice calling capabilities, built-in GPS with A-GPS support, as well as Bluetooth and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n connectivity.

According to Reliance, the tablet will be shipped with several application aimed towards both business and casual users.

It is also worth mentioning that the carrier has also setup an exclusive 24x7 Tab customer care, which is meant to offer customers technical assistance.
