It's nice to know that although the videogames industry is geared towards secrecy, concerning release dates, title information, new developments, future consoles, there are times when secrets slip out via the most mundane documents and events. For example, David W. Carlson, one of the executives working for GameStop who has recently taken part in an earning call, might have given away the release dates for a slew of eagerly awaited titles.

Carlson said that “Then going into November with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Assassin’s Creed 2, and we believe there’s a couple of Nintendo titles coming that have not been announced. So, it looks like actually a very, very strong fall and holiday season.”

Before making this statement, he had already revealed that Tekken 6, the big fighting game release of the end of the year, and BioShock 2, the sequel to one of the most acclaimed titles of 2007, were set to come in October 2009. Unfortunately, the exact dates were not mentioned.

GameStop is one of the biggest videogame selling chains and although the dates revealed are most likely those for the United States market, they are important for gamers all over the world, as these days, publishers seem to launch games pretty close on all major markets.

The end of 2009 appears to be a full year when it comes to huge releases and companies are taking a gamble by stuffing games into the short period that leads up to Christmas.

Bear in mind the fact that Blizzard has not yet said when we get to see Starcraft II, which is set to be released this year, and that Nintendo, as the GameStop executive noted, should announce new games that could be coming out this year at the E3 trade show. Gamers have to make some savings during summer to be able to pick up all those titles later in the year.
