Canadian mobile phone users fond of Apple's iPhone 3G have now the option of purchasing the device from Fido for a price tag of only $29 upon the signing of a three-year contract agreement with the carrier. Of course, the price tag applies to the refreshed $29 iPhone 3G 8GB, while the new device costs $99 on contract, but it still looks like an appealing deal, that's for sure.

Fido also offers the 16GB model of iPhone 3G for purchase, which is available for $149 “with 3-year Fido Agreement and subscription to an iPhone rate plan or other select plans with a 3-year Fido Agreement and Data add-on,” the carrier notes. It might not be the iPhone 3GS, but the device still looks promising, one should agree.

However, in case there are some who are not familiar with what a refreshed iPhone from Fido is all about, here's what the carrier states: “Refreshed phones are phones that were returned by customers within 15 days from the date of activation. They are either unused or lightly used and they must pass rigorous final Quality Assurance testing before their sale. Some refreshed iPhone 3G devices will have final scratches.”

At the same time, the mobile phone carrier also notes that these devices do not include ear phones or other accessories, that they are preloaded with current software and “have been extensively and independently quality tested,” and that they have a warranty of only 6 months from the date of shipment. In other words, you will get about the same device as when purchasing a new iPhone, only that some accessories are not there, but some scratches might be present on the handset.

Previously, Fido had the refreshed iPhone 3G 8GB available for purchase for $49 on a three year contract agreement, but it seems that it lowered the cost down by $20, all the way to $29. In case there are some of you interested in making a purchase, you will find all the necessary details available on Fido's website here.
