Red Faction: Armageddon, the newest destruction-based open world title from Volition and THQ, has just been delayed by a week, but gamers will still be able to get a taste of its action through a demo that will be released tomorrow, May 3.

Red Faction: Armageddon is set to take the new types of destruction mechanics seen in 2009's Guerrilla, and polish them up with new abilities, as well as add lots of new possibilities for the player, who will once again help the human colony on Mars by hitting things with his all-powerful hammer.

Sadly, for those who already planned a few days off at the end of May to play Armageddon, Volition and THQ have just announced that the game has been delayed, missing its initial release date of May 31, in North America, and June 3, in Europe.

Now, Red Faction: Armageddon will appear for the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 one week later, on June 7 and June 10, respectively.

In order to keep fans excited about the release, a demo will be released until then, tomorrow to be more precise, on May 3.

"In the demo, consumers will be introduced to Darius Mason and fight their way through the Martian sewers and an oncoming alien infestation. Meanwhile, Darius must clear his name as the colonists have blamed him for unleashing the alien threat that has ravaged the underground cities of Mars," THQ explains.

"Players will have at their disposal the Nano Forge as they combat alien invaders with concussive blasts and core-shattering tremblers. Rebuild all that you destroy with the Nano Forge's incredible Reconstruction ability. Finally, throw entire buildings at your enemies with Red Faction's signature weapon, the Magnet Gun."

The demo will be released on Xbox Live tomorrow, and on the PlayStation Network when Sony gets its service back online.
