I guess you already know that the upcoming sci-fi first-person shooter from Electronic Arts has been delayed. Apparently, Crytek, the game's developer, needs some extra time in order to perform some final adjustments and tweaks.

Little is know about the game except that it will be among the few games that will have DX10 support. Given the fact that the entire gaming community was unhappy with this delay, Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli has decided to speak.

He declared that he wants to set the record straight and revealed that the game will ship a little later than planned. He gave out assurances, explaining that the Crytek development team is working as hard they possibly to can to deliver the game in time. Cevat Yerli also revealed that the Crysis development team is currently focusing on the multiplayer aspect of the game, while paying attention to the Crysis' community feedback. Apparently, there will be 4 multiplayer modes, including tactical deathmatch, power struggle, tactical capture the flag and tactical team deathmatch. Closing his statement, he promises on behalf of the entire Crysis development team to do their best as to come out with a great game.

Crysis will use an all new engine, a successor to CryENGINE used in Far Cry. This new engine will be called CryENGINE 2 and will be among the first to use the Direct 3D framework of Windows Vista. It will have many graphical enhancements, such as volumetric clouds, real-time ambient maps, dynamic soft shadows, HDR lighting, advanced particle system, parallax mapping and fully interactive and destructible environments.
