Another member of Whitney Houston's inner circle is speaking up about the tragic loss they suffered when she was found dead in her hotel room one month ago. Ray J, believed to have been Whitney's boyfriend for the last years of her life, has broken his silence.

Whitney and Ray J, who happens to be Brandy's younger brother and Kim Kardashian's amateur video partner / ex-boyfriend, were first linked in the press sometime in 2008.

While neither spoke about the alleged romance at the time, it is believed that Whitney continued to date him until her final day, despite the age gap and reported opposition from the family.

At a recent charity event for children, the Brotherhood Crusade/Mothers in Action, Ray J talked about his heartbreak and immense sense of loss following the singer's death.

“I really miss my friend. I really do, I'm still hurting. I just want to say, like Whitney, I love giving back to the kids,” Ray J told the press, trying hard to fight back tears.

“It's just such a tough time for me. I've been through a lot in these past two weeks. I may have to look at life in a whole different way,” he said.

One way of dealing with the grief is to continue Whitney's charity work with the kids, and some help from a special photo of her he has on his mobile phone.

“I always look at my phone because I have a picture of someone I really love, and it helps me through the day. This is all new for me. I'm really emotional right now,” Ray J said.

“What I will say is that I loved, and I'm hurt,” he added.

He's not the only one to feel this way either. Besides the millions of fans from all over the world who can't cope with the idea of never seeing or hearing Whitney again, her family is still pretty much in shock.

The singer's daughter, Bobbi Kristina, brother and sister in law / manager agreed to do a first interview with Oprah for a TV special that aired this past Sunday: the three of them admitted to having a really hard time thinking that she was gone for ever.
