Rosie O’Donnell left The View on ABC after just one season, and from what we can make from ongoing rumors, she left slamming the door behind her (once more). Producers have been looking for a replacement for her since, and have just settled on Raven Symone, The Wrap confirms.

Former child star Symone had been a special guest on the show for some time and it seems that she clicked enough with audiences to determine producers to give her a permanent position.

She confirmed the news on yesterday’s episode, saying, “The cast and crew are warm and welcoming and has made the transition into daytime talk easier. I have a lot to learn within this new arena, but being the apprentice of these spectacular women will only make me a better person and talk show host.”

She’s thrilled at the prospect of learning more, of becoming more of a professional and of having a lot of fun as regular host on the talk show. Seeing how she managed to cause a lot of controversy with comments she made when she was just a special guest, chances are loyal viewers should expect more of the same.

If you recall, producers also brought back Rosie because she was a loudmouth who wouldn’t censor herself for anything in the world, hoping that the controversy would lead to a boost in attention, which would lead to a boost in the ratings.

It didn’t happen with Rosie, but it might still happen with Raven. She joins Whoopi Goldberg, Nicolle Wallace and Rosie Perez, with the aforementioned trade publication saying a fifth talk host will be announced soon, before the show goes on a summer break.
