Another major retailer has just started to take pre-orders for RIM's BlackBerry PlayBook, adding to the long list of stores that are about to sell the tablet.

RadioShack is now offering customers the chance to pre-order the PlayBook online for $500.

The retailer also mentions that the tablet will be released on April 19th, but doesn't say when it actually ships the product to those who pre-order it.

Obviously, this is the 16GB variant of the PlayBook, but RIM has already announced plans to release two additional versions of the tablet.

The 32GB BlackBerry PlayBook will be available for purchase for $599, while the 64GB model will cost $699.

Even though the 16GB model is already available for pre-order at Best Buy, Best Buy Mobile, Office Depot, Staples and Future Shop, none of these retailers have listed the other two versions of the PlayBook, though all are expected to be released at the same time.

The ultra-portable PlayBook comes in a small size (130 x 194 x 10 mm) and runs BlackBerry Tablet OS, which is built on user-friendly QNX technology.

The 1 GHz dual-core processor that powers the tablet is complemented by 1GB RAM, which provides symmetric multiprocessing, thus offering users true multitasking.

The tablet has a 7-inch TFT multi-touch capacitive display with 16 million colors support and 600 x 1024 pixels resolution.

In addition, the tablet is one of the few to offer out-of-the-box enterprise support through the BlackBerry Enterprise Server. This will allow users to pair their tablet with a BlackBerry smartphone and access corporate data whenever they need it.

Other highlights of the PlayBook include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n connectivity, 5-megapixel camera with autofocus, 3-megapixel front facing camera, Adobe Flash 10.1 support, built-in support for HTML 5, as well as codec support for superior media playback, creation and video calling.
