Office Depot, one of the leading providers of office supplies and services, has just announced that the highly anticipated BlackBerry PlayBook is now available for pre-orders for prices starting at $499.99. The retailer states that the tablet will ship April 19-21.

However, it seems that the tablet is available in low quantities, thus the retailer has put a limit of 1 unit per customer (business or household), while supplies last.

Three models are available at Office Depot, each with a different amount of storage space and price tag: 16GB at $499.99, 32GB at $599.99 and 64GB at $699.99.

Because the device is not available until April 19, customers who wish to pre-order the PlayBook will receive the “Insufficient Stock” message as soon as they add the item to their cart.

This seems to be a part of the pre-ordering procedure, so they are advised to continue with the checkout, as the “Order 1 for future delivery” button will be automatically selected.

Office Depot provides customers with the most innovative lineup of products that will help them take care of business, and the BlackBerry PlayBook is certainly one of those game-changing products,” said Randy Wick, vice president of Merchandising for Office Depot.

There has been a lot of buzz and excitement for the BlackBerry PlayBook to hit the market, and we are thrilled to be one of the first retailers to offer this professional-grade tablet.”

Although it comes in a small size (130 x 194 x 10 mm), RIM's first QNX-based tablet is powered by a 1 GHz dual-core processor. It has a 7-inch TFT capacitive touchscreen with 16 million colors support and 600 x 1024 pixels resolution.

In addition to its ultra-portable design, the tablet is one of the few to offer true multitasking, as well as out-of-the-box enterprise support.

Other highlights of the PlayBook include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n connectivity, 1 GB RAM, Adobe Flash 10.1 support, 5-megapixel camera with autofocus, as well as 3-megapixel front facing camera.
