Taiwan based mobile phone maker HTC Corporation has released recently a new ROM upgrade for one of its latest handsets, the HTC HD2. The handset comes to the market with Microsoft's Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system on board, and the new software solution is aimed at delivering an enhanced experience to its European owners.

According to HTC, the new ROM upgrade for HTC HD2 comes to several markets in Europe, including Greece (1.48.482.4); Russia (1.48.411.1); Norway (1.48.409.1); Germany (1.48.407.1); Spain (1.48.412.2); Netherlands (1.48.404.2); France (1.48.406.1); Czech Republic (1.48.479.1); Poland (1.48.479.1); and Italy (1.48.408.1).

The release notes of the new ROM update show that the following features have been improved: - Flipping back and forth between songs is easier than ever. Whether you are listening to a defined playlist, or letting your phone shuffle your songs for you, your music will play continuously and fluidly. - Taking full advantage of the G-Sensor, Opera can switch seamlessly from portrait to landscape mode to allow more flexibility and allow for you to browse your websites however you want. - Staying connected to your loved ones is as important to you as it is to us, and we’ve enhanced our voice quality even more in this update. Now updated, we’re delivering crystal clear sound quality, making it even easier to feel close to your loved ones, even when you are on the move.

There are a few other things that users need to take into consideration when applying this update. First of all, they need to make sure the ROM on their handsets is not newer than the downloaded ROM (to learn this, one should access Start > Settings > System tab > Device Information > Version tab). At the same time, the mobile phone maker also notes that this is only a generic update for the HD2, and any carrier settings or software will be lost when applied.

Those willing to go forth and install the new ROM update on their HTC HD2 phone will find all the necessary details and instructions on the process on HTC's support website here. It should also be noted that a backup of the device before proceeding is necessary, so as to make sure that no important files are lost in the process. The new update has been released at about the same time as another ROM for the HD2, one that fixes its camera issues.
