Taiwan-based mobile phone maker HTC Corporation made available for download today a new software update for one of its Windows Mobile-based handsets, the HTC HD2. According to the company, the new update for the phone is meant to deliver a better image quality for the photos taken with its camera, most probably eliminating the issues that emerged with the device not too long ago.

The handset vendor also notes that the new ROM update for the HTC HD2 is available if the existing ROM version on the device is equal to 1.60.XXX.X or lower. At the same time, the company also says that the new update should enable the phone to live up to the name of 'HD'. “This phone and its twin LED flash will take beautiful pictures for you to cherish your memories. Displayed in brilliant vibrant colors on its 4.3 inch screen, HTC HD2 camera will delight you,” HTC adds.

There are some steps that those who would like to perform the update need to take into consideration, such as the fact that Microsoft ActiveSync needs to be installed in case a Windows XP PC is used, or Windows Mobile Device Center on a Windows Vista PC (or a Windows 7 one). The handset should thus be connected to the computer, after which a synchronization of the device and the PC via the aforementioned software solutions needs to be performed.

The new ROM update is available for download from HTC's support website here. “Copy the update, which is an .exe file, to your device. To install the update, tap the .exe file and follow the on-screen instructions,” HTC notes. The company also points out that those who perform a hard reset of their devices will need to reinstall the update afterwards. Unfortunately, HTC does not provide more details on what the new ROM for the HD2 includes.
