You must have heard of ROK Entertainment Group by now, but just in case you haven't, they are the ones that bring your favorite TV programs directly to your mobile phone. Recently, ROK has announced the launch of Monkey Sports NEWS, available on both ROK TV and FreeBe TV.

Customers from the UK, US, China, Thailand and Turkey will now be able to enjoy live sports news on their 2.5G mobile phones. Monkey Sports will also be sublicensed to partner Telco's worldwide in South Africa, Thailand and Pakistan.

Basically, while watching this program, you'll have the latest sport news, presented to you - as the name of the program suggests - by monkeys. And this is how it works. The TV News program, aimed at both men and women, takes a live text feed of sports news and with the help of a speech recognition program, it lip syncs the stories, that are presented by computer generated animals.

Bruce Renny, Marketing Director for ROK comments, "Aside from catering to the traditional male sports demographic, we have designed Monkey Sports News in a fun and quirky way to also appeal to the growing demographic of female sport enthusiasts. In the past three months alone, ROK has seen a twenty percent increase in the consumption of sport content by women, across our mobile TV services."

Other channels in ROK's cross-genre lineup include ITN, National Geographic, Pop World, Fifth Gear, SNTV and others, as well as Monkey Sports News' sister channel, Monkey News Network, that delivers live news bulletins from around the world, updated every 15 minutes. According to ROK Entertainment, through their patent-pending technology, they deliver video streaming through GPRS to 2.5G mobile phones at a faster frame rate than the existing 3G TV services.
