After the UK and Malaysia release, it is time for Chile to receive RIM's BlackBerry 8700g. This makes Chile the first South American country to take advantage of the device. Available to Entel PCS customers, the handheld will offer users high data transfer speeds thanks to Entel's EDGE network.

The handheld combines BlackBerry functionalities such as e-mail, phone, instant messaging, browser and organizer into a compact, lightweight device. Powered by an Intel XScale processor, the handset features a LCD display supporting 320 x 240 pixel resolution in 65k colors, 64 MB flash memory and 16 MB RAM. A full QWERTY keyboard is present, doubled by dedicated send, end and mute keys, as well as user definable keys.

Other features of the handheld include Bluetooth support, light sensing screen which automatically adjusts lighting levels for indoor and outdoor viewing, speakerphone, MP3 support, web browser and the usual productivity tools.

The BlackBerry 8700g is compatible with GSM/GPRS networks and operates in 850/900/1800/1900 MHz frequencies.
