We're approaching quite quickly that moment when language barriers will be brought down forever with the help of technology, and one of the gadgets that might prove to be extremely helpful in this direction is the new Quicktionary TS Premium, developed by Israeli company Wizcom Technologies.

So, practically, what we're dealing with here is a portable, multi-function, hand-held scanning translator that can actually scan a word or a full line of text and generate its word-by-word translation, including idioms and phrases as well as audio pronunciation of a full line of text.

The device is controlled via a touch-screen and icon-based menu and can be used for scanning, storing and transferring up to 20,000 lines of editable text.

It's also interesting to mention that this device can be relatively easily customized with the help of the Wizcard extension card, that allows user to add extra content to the Pen, such as dictionaries, OCR languages and text-to-speech components.

In other words, users can choose exactly the components and applications they'll require, without having to pay a lot more for the entire package, that might also contain items they'll never really require.

And it seems that Wizcom Technologies has plenty of available dictionaries, users being to translate back and forth from some of the world's best-known (or least so) languages in a very fast and easy manner.

CEO Shimon Amouyal stated, "Wizcom's goal is to assist people to improve their language capabilities. The new Quicktionary TS Premium and the Wizcard's added functionality will definitely help to achieve these goals."

Given the impressive level of functionality it delivers, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise that the Quicktionary TS Premium is actually a fairly expensive product, each unit selling for around 211 Euro, although, as mentioned before, extra dictionaries will most likely make it a tad more expensive.
