One of the most thrilling PC games of the '90s, Quake, has just been adapted in order to perfectly run on a Nokia N95 smartphone. Some individual developers have achieved this success and not a company looking to make profit from this.

A user of the "all about symbian" forum has posted a thread along with a link sending detailed instructions on how to bring Quake on the handset of those who meet some basic requirements. The game is supposed to run on all S60 third edition handsets, although quality should vary greatly depending on the phone's screen size and performances.

Nokia N95 in its new 8GB version should be the perfect mobile phone to support Quake, as it has all the technical specifications needed. Moreover, a video has appeared on YouTube, showing a demonstration of just how the game works. It's not handled by a player, but a demo version. Still, it looks great, especially due to the phone's capability of handling high quality graphics. If it works this good on the available Nokia N95, the soon to be released 8GB one will surely be the best.

There are some issues to be taken care of by the developer, concerning sound quality and display on various display screen shapes. On the installation website, there are step by step indications on how S60 phone owners can do this by themselves, with no additional help. The steps to follow are quite simple and can be found at the link here.

The first person shooter computer game has been sold in more than 4 million copies until now, which makes it one of the most successful such applications. Nobody would have thought that this could be possible one day when Quake was first released. Because of this, there are high chances for us to see even more evolved games being played on handsets without having to wait for a special mobile phone version to be released.
