QNAP is one manufacturer that is better known for its enterprise storage solutions than for its consumer products, but this hasn't stopped the company from entering this market segment too, as they have just announced the TS-x19P+ lineup of affordable Turbo NAS servers, targeting primarily home and SOHO users.

Going for the consumer segment, however, hasn't made these new NAS servers any less powerful, QNAP using a Marvell 1.6GHz processor (ARM based) paired with 512MB of DDR3 memory and Gigabit LAN ports in order to muster transfer rates exceeding 100MB/sec.

Available as one, two and four drives models, the powerful hardware configuration is also put to good use in order to offer RAID functionality in the multi bay units, the TS-219P+ supporting RAID 0/1 while the TS-419P+ comes with RAID 0/1/5/6/5+hot spare support as well as online RAID capacity expansion and online RAID level migration capabilities.

The TS-x19P+ series supports 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch SATA II hard drives with up to 2TB capacity as well as additional storage devices through the eSATA or USB expansion ports available, all of QNAS' solutions coming with a UPnP media server, dubbed TwonkyMedia, that can supports numerous media players such as the Sony PS3 and Microsoft Xbox 360 gaming consoles as well as High-Definition media players (compatible with NFS).

"The next generation TS-x19P+ series Turbo NAS servers from QNAP combine affordable high performance with ultra-low power consumption," said Tony Lu, Product Manager for QNAP.

"Whether you are a home or business user, you no longer need to sacrifice performance for the sake of saving energy.

These new models offer home and SOHO users many of the advanced networking features found on our higher-end NAS servers, making the TS-x19P+ series an incredible value for the consumer," concluded Mr. Lu.

As far as availability is concerned the TS-x19P+ Series Turbo NAS server line will make it to market in November 2010, pricing not being available at this time.
