Psystar's official blog now reveals that the Mac cloner is already taking orders for Open Computers with OS X 10.6 pre-installed. Psystar is involved in a legal battle with Apple over copyright claims, as Apple’s EULA explicitly states that no systems except for Apple-branded computers may run Mac OS X.

[ADMARk=1]“Here at Psystar, we were as excited as everyone to see the release of OS X Snow Leopard on Friday. Our development team had been eagerly awaiting the arrival of the official release the next iteration of OS X,” Psystar says in an anonymous posting on its company blog, dated Monday.

Psystar’s order page now lists Snow Leopard as a $69.99 optional upgrade from the default Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) configuration. To top Apple’s offerings, the price also includes a copy of Apple’s iLife and iWork application suites – something that undoubtedly upsets Apple even more.

“We have developed new virtualization technologies to allow our Open Computers to interface with the all new Mac OS X like never before, ensuring a seamless computing experience,” Psystar continues to outline. “We support Snow Leopard on all new Psystar machines and we’re already taking orders for computers with the latest OS from Apple which will begin to ship next week. Visit our online store to place orders with the newest OS option, Snow Leopard Now!,” the clone maker encourages visitors of its blog.

The Florida-based cloner also warns existing customers not to try upgrading to Snow Leopard on their own. “We will be releasing information on upgrading your Psystar computer to OS X Snow Leopard soon,” the blog says. Upgrading now, Psystar continues, “may cause harm to your computer.” Additionally, “The ability to [upgrade] may depend on when your system was purchased, and upgrade costs may vary,” Psystar says.
