The Mac cloner continues to roll out powerful, affordable configurations pre-installed with Apple's OS

By filing a motion found to be completely baseless, Judge Alsup ordered Florida-based Mac clone maker Psystar to pay Apple $5,000 in attorneys' fees, Edible Apple reports. But even now, walking on ice that’s thinner than ever, Psystar continues to introduce new systems pre-installed with Leopard, in what looks like a thriving business for the Florida-based company. By ripping off Apple-specific advertising, the Miami copycat even has a Back-to-School promotion.

Earlier this week, The Court ordered Psystar to pay up because Psystar CEO Rudy Pedrazza reportedly lied during his deposition, causing Apple’s legal team to incur unnecessary legal fees.

Psystar earlier bragged about the ongoing discovery process between it and Apple. “After numerous depositions of Psystar employees and associates the shoe is finally on the other foot, oh the joy!,” Psystar said on its website. However, the Cupertino-based Mac maker filed a document alleging Psystar had erased crucial evidence, thus violating federal rules and a court order. And so it goes...

Yet, whatever happens in the ongoing legal battle between the two companies, Psystar continues to pour resources into shipping newer systems with improved capabilities at affordable prices.

This time around, the company has announced the “Rebel” series of computers. Psystar advertises the new configurations saying, “It's not a Mac, it's better!” The cloner then continues to advertise its new offerings as shown in the paragraphs to follow. The Florida-based cloner touts the user’s ability to upgrade as their needs change as a major plus.

Our Rebels models are pre-configured bundles offering you a complete working system. They ship with two unique hardware configurations, pre-instaled with Leopard OS X, a monitor, and a keyboard & mouse.

Our Open Computers outrival similarly priced Apple systems on three levels; they are faster, cheaper & upgradeable. The Rebel 19" is up to 53% more powerful than the similarly configured iMac 20". And the Rebel 22", as compared to a comparable iMac 24", is 66% more powerful when it comes to processing and memory performance according to our benchmark testing.

As for the “Back to school sale” (which Psystar rips off without shame), it features a 10%-off-everything promotion for computers with OS X pre-installed, a 2.33Ghz Core 2 Quad processor, a 500GB hard drive and 4GB of DDR2 memory, starting at $699. Customers get a three-year warranty and support, more upgrade options than they would get with a real Mac, and the ability to install any major operating system, according to Psystar.
