Prototype 2, the action-packed open world game from developer Radical Entertainment and publisher Activision Blizzard, has managed to take over the number one position in the United Kingdom video game chart for the week that ended on April 28.

Prototype 2 is one of the first high-profile titles to launch the May release season and Activision will be happy to break the lock that rival Electronic Arts has long had on the top positions.

Despite the fact that the number one place is out of reach, FIFA Street has managed to keep its hold on the second place in the chart, showing how quickly players can be convinced to move from full stadium to street-based football.

FIFA 12, the full football simulation from the same company, has also kept third place after getting the Euro 2012 DLC package, which includes a significant new mode in Expedition, but was criticized for the lack of licenses for some of the included teams.

Mass Effect 3, the action and role-playing mix from BioWare and EA, has managed to climb up one place in order to reach fourth in the United Kingdom, with sales kept high by the regular multiplayer focused operations that the developers deliver.

Kinect Star Wars, the first motion tracking powered game to top the chart, has slid down yet another place in order to reach fifth while The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings – Enhanced Edition, from CD Projekt RED and Namco Bandai, has slipped to sixth place after occupying number one during the previous seven-day period.

Battlefield 3, the first-person shooter from DICE and EA, has slipped down one place to land in eight while Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games, from SEGA, is in ninth.

The United Kingdom top ten is closed down by Saints Row: The Third, from Volition and THQ.
