Great news for owners of Mass Effect 3 on the PlayStation 3 console, as BioWare has confirmed that Sony is finally allowing it to run special multiplayer challenges on the platform, meaning this weekend's Operation Exorcist is also available on the PS3, not just on the PC or Xbox 360.

Mass Effect 3's multiplayer mode has been a huge success, with BioWare keeping players interested in the online experience by offering free DLC, in the form of the Resurgence Pack, and running special challenges that tested the skills of players.

The latest operation is called Exorcist and was announced earlier this week for the PC and Xbox 360, while PS3 users were once again forced to wait it out, as Sony didn't allow BioWare to run such challenges on its home console.

Things have changed, however, and BioWare has just revealed that Operation Exorcist is also available on the PS3, not just on PC or Xbox 360.

While PS3 users might not see the promotion screen that advertises the special operation when they access multiplayer due to a slight bug, they're still participating in the online effort and, if the goals are reached, they'll receive their just rewards.

In case you forgot, Operation Exorcist tasks the community of players with killing 1,000,000 Cerberus Phantoms and individual players with surviving an entire Gold difficulty match on any map against any enemy.

Completing the community goal will earn players a Victory Pack, while the individual goal will net them a Commendation Pack. Both of these rewards will become available sometime next week.

More new things are being prepared by BioWare for Mass Effect 3's multiplayer, so look forward to hearing more about the role playing shooter and its online mode soon enough.

Until then, good luck during Operation Exorcist on all platforms, which ends on Monday, April 30th at 5:00AM PST.
