14 DAY TRIAL // Prolimatech's Megahalems and Super Mega are some of the highest-regarded CPU coolers available on the market as the models proved time and time again that they can cool even the most power-hungry processors, but the company promises to raise cooling performance even further with the introduction of the Genesis.
Just like the previous CPU coolers released by Prolimatech, the Genesis features dual heatsink towers, but, this time, these were rearranged in order to offer better performance to the various components placed alongside the CPU.
This includes memory modules and the power phases of the motherboard and Prolimatech says it allows for higher and more stable overclocks.
While this is most certainly true, the new design could also cause some compatibility problems with some motherboards and memory sticks, with high profile heatspreaders, so users are advised to do some research before opting for the Genesis.
The large array of cooling fins can hold up to three 120mm or 140mm fans, the retail package featuring the clips required for mounting two such fans.
As far as the motherboard retention system is concerned, the Genesis ships with back mounting screws for added contact pressure (surpassing Intel's specifications) as well as with a re-enforced socket backplate.
The mounting system is compatible with a wide range of sockets, including AM2, AM2+, and AM3, on the AMD side, and LGA 775, 1155, 1156 and 1366 for Intel systems.
Together with the CPU cooler Prolimatech also bundles its high-performance PK-1 thermal paste.
Prolimatech's Genesis CPU cooler will be available from March 4th 2011 for 59.90 Euro at www.caseking.de and is available for pre-order immediately.
The vanilla version of the cooler comes without any fans, allowing users to opt for whatever models they prefer.
However, the company also supplies a number of bundles consisting of the Genesis and two 120mm or 140mm fans, prices varying between 64.90 Euro and 79.90 Euro.
